Brackets explained

Ordinary rates apply to slices of taxable income, not to every dollar.

A 22% bracket does not mean a 22% bill. Income fills the 10% slice, then the 12% slice, then the 22% slice. Only the dollars inside a slice use that rate.

These ordinary-income tables follow Revenue Procedure 2025-32. They apply to taxable years beginning in 2026 (returns generally filed in 2027).

What the tables omit
